About TradeTrack

TradeTrack makes public SEC filings readable. When a company's own executives buy its stock, or a famous investor changes a big position, the filing is public but hard to read. We read it for you, say what happened in one plain sentence, and show how earlier buys like it actually did.

Questions people ask

What is TradeTrack?

A free website that turns public SEC filings into plain English: insider stock purchases (Form 4), the holdings of famous investors (13F), and how earlier buys turned out. It is a research site, not a broker.

Does TradeTrack handle my money or place trades?

No. It never connects to a brokerage, never places orders and never holds money. Every trade a person makes happens in their own brokerage account.

Where does the data come from?

The SEC's public filing system (EDGAR) for insider purchases and 13F holdings, plus third-party price feeds that can be delayed. Each filing links back to sec.gov.

What is an insider buy?

A company executive, director or large shareholder buying the company's stock on the open market with their own money. They must report it to the SEC within two business days.

How is a buy graded?

Sixty days after the SEC report, we check whether the stock closed 5% or more above its price on the report day, and compare it with the S&P 500 over the same period. Misses are published too.

Is it really free?

Yes. The research is free to use. The data files are free with a link back.

Is this investment advice?

No. It is general information about public filings. Insiders buy and sell for many reasons, past results do not predict future results, and you can lose money.
